The Informatics and System Analysis Directorate (IRF) coordinates health sector IT, ensures the multi-purpose use of sectoral data assets, analyzes health systems from an international perspective, and maintains the National Health Policy Library.

Informatics Division

The predecessor of the Informatics Division of GYEMSZI IRF is the Informatics and Information Office of the National Institute for Strategic Health Research (ESKI), thus on the one hand it has taken over the informatics tasks of ESKI, and on the other hand it performs the tasks of IT development and support for the new organisation. The associates of Informatics Division work in the fields of informatics and healthcare, as well as in the interdisciplinary field of both professions. Acting as project manager, coordinator and consultant the Division takes part in Hungarian and EU health informatics and health sector projects, and in the implementation and support of complex sectoral planning tasks. From 2006, we ensure the multi-purpose and free use of the enormous data assets accumulated in the health sector by means of the Internet-based Hungarian Health Datawarehouse (IMEA) and the Healthcare Episode Database (TEA) created by our own efforts. We operate and develop the Dr. Info portal that serves citizens and health professionals. We support health sector IT developments and ensure the continuous accessibility, usability and security of GYEMSZI's informatics systems.

Health System Analysis Division

The Health System Analysis Division is engaged in the most important issues of health policy. Processing international literature and keeping track of health-related legislation, we build a health policy database. Much of our research involves analysing the operation of health systems and comparing their performance. We prepare a series of country studies, mostly from the EU countries, paying special attention to innovative approaches that provide efficient and adaptable answers to the challenges of health systems. We also conduct research on the main areas of health systems like resource creation, resource allocation, health services and regulation. The results of our research are available on our website. The international literature review section HealthOnLine (HOL) provides an opportunity to get acquainted with current issues of particular countries' healthcare, as well as the important topics in international health system research. The HOL database on our website contains about 500 new abstracts/year (in Hungarian) from international journal articles and news from the website of governmental agencies of different countries. We are the editor of the English language newsletter Hungarian Health System Scan, which deals with the most important changes of Hungarian healthcare, health policy and legislation.
